  • Katie Lowe

    Certified Pilates Instructor

Katie has been a teacher and student of Pilates for 10 years and is comprehensively certified through the Pilates Method Alliance. As a teacher of Pilates, Katie seeks to help her clients garner strength, flexibility, and coordination through the delivery of progressive, balanced, and challenging workouts. Throughout class, Katie consistently provides descriptive and motivating cues that aim to simultaneously achieve correct form, incorporate breath, enhance the mind-body connection, foster confidence, and of course, develop core strength. Katie is passionate about educating all peoples on the incredible benefits of Pilates, and her goal as an instructor is to help her clients learn to move intelligently, both in the Pilates studio and in their everyday lives, to promote positive mental and physical health over the lifespan. As aptly stated by Joseph Pilates himself, “Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty to not only to attain it but to maintain it.” As a student of Pilates, Katie was first formally introduced to it as a means to recover from years of being a ballet dancer and track & field athlete. The non-impact, core-focused exercise helped her quickly develop better muscular balance and flexibility, which reduced the chronic pain felt in her knees and hips. The clarity of mind she also experienced from practicing Pilates inspired her to pursue her comprehensive certification amidst attaining her Master’s Degree in Psychology. Katie continued to teach Pilates throughout her graduate education, in which she earned a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Purdue University, as it served as a wonderful balance to the rigor of academics. Katie moved to Boston with her husband in 2015 to pursue academic careers, teaching and conducting research at Clark University and Harvard University. Katie continues to share her passion for Pilates and is grateful to her mentors and students for their unconditional support.

  • Maite Paillet

    Master Pilates Instructor

Maïté is a Certified Master Pilates Teacher, a Certified Comprehensive Pilates Teacher and a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher. Maite practiced Pilates through dance for over ten consecutive years. In 2011, Maïté set a goal to summit Mount Rainier, though she was dealing with recurrent spinal pain from old injuries. She decided to sign up for a so-called Pilates class to cross-train and relieve trigger points. A few minutes into the class, she realized that Pilates had accompanied her for many years as an integral part of the warm-up in Contemporary Modern Dance Class. The pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place: Modern Dancer and Choreographer, Martha Graham, had worked with Joseph Pilates and incorporated Pilates elements to The Graham Technique. Maïté felt immediately reconnected to her love for mind-body movement. That sense of rootedness and connection was so strong that she decided to leave the corporate world and switch careers: “Pilates helped me get rid of trigger points, restore my range of motion, and heal. I regained physical and mental vitality. I rebuilt equilibrium in my core & developed balanced muscle groups to support a healthy spine. I found a sense of calm after each session, which grounded me from the whirlwind of daily stress. To this day, I keep noticing many positive changes in any daily activities that I pursue and in anyone that I work with as a result of Pilates. I constantly seek to learn and refine my teaching skills so that I can guide individuals from all walks of life towards active healthy lifestyles. I look forward to seeing you in class and bringing sunshine into your day!” Today, Maïté teaches Pilates and Mindfulness to people from professional athletes, to novice & experienced practitioners and injured or disabled individuals. She works in private and group settings, gives workshops, presents at conferences, and offers Pilates teacher training nationwide.
